I remember my Dad getting our first record player and asking if I would like some records for Christmas. I asked for Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf and Holst's Planet Suite. I got Roy Orbison's Greatest Hits and a fishing rod. But I think I can safely say that I've always liked classical music. When I started to play I became hooked on baroque music, I think because it fits closely with the folk music I was playing at the time. Jigs reels, hornpipes and polkas, the baroque composers wrote them all.
Over time my tastes have changed. I like the harder edge and more dangerous elements to be found in modern music - although some of it still sounds like a badly oiled door hinge. Works by Roberto Sierra (Flower Pieces), Miriam Hyde (Under the Hill) or Bella Bartok for instance, I find much more satisfying to play, although Bach still takes some beating.
I have transposed some of my music to MIDI and MP3 files which are included here along with links to the composers. I havent included any written music as I'm uncertain about copyright but please feel free to use the files for your own practice. The pages and links on this page are not a complete list of the music I enjoy playing, but I'll slowly work my way through my music and update it as I go along. Pop back occasionaly and see if I've added anything else.
